Following the new deadline by the Central Bank of Nigeria for old naira notes, many Nigerians on a daily basis are rushing to their Banks to exchange the old notes for new notes However, there are complains about scarcity of new notes across various parts of the country.

Although the House of Representatives on Tuesday reached an agreement with the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, that when the old Naira notes cease to be legal tender on February 10, 2023, commercial banks can still collect them from customers and return to the apex bank, the experience has been frustrating for the majority of Nigerians as some traders and business owners no longer accept the old notes while scarcity of the new notes gets worse.

As of Wednesday, many Point of Sale (POS) operators in Awka, the Anambra State capital and many parts of Delta State including Isele-uku in Aniocha North Local Government Area said they had no money to do their business, while some of them who had access to some cash charged N1,000 for customers withdrawing N10,000.

The House of Representatives has ordered the CBN to submit a weekly report on the amount of money it releases to commercial banks.

In the same reaction, another video is also trending. It’s shows a man pulling off his shirt in a banking hall, climbed the top of atop of the cashier’s table and shouting that he must collect his money today.
