No fewer than six persons have been reportedly burnt to death as fire gutted the Providus Bank under construction, located at Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island. bank in Lagos State.
The fire started early hours of Tuesday, November 1st 2022.
According to the information provided by the Permanent Secretary LASEMA,Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, which revealed the Situation Report of the Fire Outbreak that occurred at Providus Bank under construction, Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island,Lagos.
It stated that ” On arrival at the scene of incident it was observed that Providus bank under construction was on fire.
Further investigation gathered at the scene revealed that the fire emanated from the Generator house.
The immediate response of the LRT, Lagos Fire Service and Rescue, FED Fire Service and UBA Fire prevented the fire from spreading to the main building.
Unfortunately, nine adult male suffered burns and injuries were taken to hospital.
A car belonging to RRS was also brunt outside the building.
Dampening down of the incident still ongoing”, he added.
Firefighters from Eko Hotel and Suites, were reportedly chased away by bystanders who pelted them with stones.
Also engulfed by the inferno was a car belonging to the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command, that was parked closer to the fire incident.
