Two Storey Building Collapsed In Lagos | The Legend News

At the incident site which occurred today at 47/49 Oduntan Street in Kosofe, Lagos State. LASEMA and other rescue responders found a collapsed 2-storey building, adjacent to 4-storey building. Upon investigation, the LRT has deduced that the collapsed was due to the building’s ageing and poor maintenance.

A detailed analysis has shown that the building’s staircase had crumbled, resulting in the fall of a male adult from the top floor who has since been taken to the hospital.

To prevent any further secondary incidents, the residents are being asked to evacuate the premises immediately under the supervision of the combined team of LASEMA, RRS, LABSCA, and LNSC.

During inspection, a LABSCA official confirmed that the building had failed structural integrity tests, endangering the lives of the public and going buildings; hence, it has been decided to be demolished.

The Agency’s response team/paramedics, RRS, LABSCA, and LNSC, are currently at the situation scene to regulate the environment and restore calm. The operation is ongoing, and updates will follow as they emerge at the scene.

Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu is the Permanent Secretary, LASEMA.
