In the early hours of the morning, at approximately 3:48 AM, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) received urgent distress calls through its Toll Free Emergency numbers. In response, a dedicated team was dispatched from the Command Control Centre in Alausa.
Upon reaching the scene, the LASEMA Response Team encountered a truck, whose registration number remains unidentified, that was loaded with iron rods. While attempting to ascend the bridge towards Ikeja Along, the truck unexpectedly rolled backward, creating a significant obstruction that extended from the bridge to the area beneath it.
To resolve the situation, LASEMA utilized its advanced heavy-duty equipment, known as the ‘Charlie-Giant Crane,’ to safely recover the truck from the bridge. The vehicle was subsequently towed to the LASTMA office in Oshodi for further handling.
The operation involved collaboration between the LASEMA Response Team, LASTMA officials, and officers from the Nigeria Police Force to ensure the area was cleared and traffic could resume smoothly.
Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, confirmed the details of the incident in an official statement.
