A gas tanker loaded with 20 cubic ft of cooking gas has been involved in an accident at Lawanson Road, Surulere.
The accident was caused by a mechanical failure which led to the gas tank detaching from the truck head.
According to an eye witness, there was no casualties or injuries have been reported at this time.
In a statement issued by Permanent Secretary,LASEMA,Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu.
Efforts are ongoing to safely salvage the situation due to the highly inflammable nature of the product.
The entire neighborhood has been informed about the incident, and road traffic has been diverted to prevent further incidents.
Emergency responders, including the LASEMA Response Team, LASG FIRE, FEDERAL FIRE, LNSC, and Nigeria Police, are at the scene.
The Agency’s heavy-duty crane has been dispatched to recover the gas tank from the road.
The faulty truck head has been replaced and the gas tanker was recovered out of the road with the aid of the Agency’s crane with support from LASG FIRE.
The highly inflammable load has been driven off the area by the owners and the road has been reopened for public use.
Recovery operation concluded and LRT heading back to base.
