Three terrorists were reportedly captured by soldiers at the Damba village in Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government Area.
One of the terrorists detained admitted to being one of the attack’s planners on the train between Abuja and Kaduna on March 28, 2022, according to the military high command.
In a statement made accessible to our correspondent on Thursday, Major General Musa Danmadami, Director of Defence Media Operations, made this claim.
He added that on Valentine’s Day, soldiers mobilized to the area and found two motorcycles, two mobile phones, $5,000, and some other currencies.
Part of the statement read: “Similarly, on February 14, 2023, troops of Operation Whirl Punch reacted to the information on the presence of Boko Haram Terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province kingpins at Damba community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.” Troops then organized and arrived at the scene, where they detained 3 terrorists. The terrorist assault on the Abuja Kaduna Train Services on March 28, 2022, was planned in part by one of the terrorists who was apprehended.
Following the operation, the troops found two motorcycles, two cellphones, $5,000 in cash, as well as some other cash and other random things.
Furthermore, on February 16, 2023, soldiers on a fighting patrol came into touch with terrorists at Ungwan Birni in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Seven terrorists were neutralized by troops after a firefight, while others escaped.
In addition to two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, 66 rounds of special 7.62 mm ammunition, and seven BH/ISWAP terrorist flags, according to Danmadami, soldiers on a fighting patrol to Gada Oli Village in Niger State’s Borgu Local Government Area also found seven BH/ISWAP flags on February 20, 2023.
He reported that troops in the North West Zone found 10 AK-47 rifles, 83 7.62 NATO rounds, 238 7.62 special rounds, 2 locally-made rifles, 1 locally-made pistol, 7 magazines, 19 motorcycles, mobile phones, 30 rustled cattle, and other miscellaneous items. He also said that troops neutralized 23 terrorists, detained 9, and freed 23 kidnapped civilians.
