In a Swift turn of events, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) swiftly mobilized its response team following urgent distress calls received at 8:28 AM.
Upon their arrival at the Ikeja Train Station inward iyano- Ipaja in Lagos,at 9:02 AM, the team encountered a tragic scene: the lifeless body of an adult male lying on the train tracks. This unfortunate incident was confirmed in a statement by Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, on October 21st, 2024.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the individual had been struck by a moving train during the early hours of the morning. In a coordinated effort, LASEMA’s response team carefully recovered the body from the tracks and subsequently handed it over to the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU).
SEHMU has since transferred the remains to the morgue for further examination and processing. The recovery operation has now concluded, marking a somber end to this tragic incident.
