With less than 48 hours to go before the 2022 World Cup final, France’s squad has been further decimated by illness.
Raphael Varane, Ibrahima Konate and Kingsley Coman are the latest French players to come down with an unidentified virus, according to multiple reports. The news comes after Adrien Rabiot and Dayot Upamecano were forced to miss the team’s semifinal matchup vs. Morocco because of illness.

The outbreak couldn’t have come at a worse time for manager Didier Deschamps, who is trying to win his second consecutive World Cup trophy. He and his team are facing a matchup with Lionel Messi and Argentina in the final Sunday in Qatar, thesportingnews reports.
Deschamps says he has taken “all necessary precautions” to prevent the virus from spreading further.
“We know there has been an illness going around in Doha,” he told reporters. “Temperatures have fallen a little bit, and we have had a few cases of flu-like symptoms. We’re all trying to be careful so it doesn’t spread.”
