By Isaac Daniel
Super Falcons striker, Rashidat Ajibade, who is being celebrated by World football body, FIFA, has assured Nigerians that the Female National team, the Super Falcons, will surely come out of the 2023 Women World Cup with flying colours.
Ajibade stated that the Super Falcons are battle ready to take on any county for a better result than their previous feat in the competition. However, the skilful striker acknowledged that the tournament is not going to be easy.
She started that to make it to the top of global football at this point in time will be tough. This she attributed to the rapid growth of football around the Word. In addition, she said that footballers especially in female circle are beginning to understand the game better, and their personal professional right, benefits on and of the pitch and union impact on footballers. She disclosed that was the reason she recently joined FIFPRO.
“It’s always good to leave your comfort zone. When you leave your comfort zone it’s an eye opener to so many things. I played in the Nigerian league for years, so I don’t know anything about the players union, I don’t know about my right as a player. Like literally anything. So coming to Europe. I was just been curious asking questions, you know?”
“Some of my team mates, when I say something different to them, with the national, with the federation, whatever I just ask questions. From there I get to know about FIFPRO. To help educate players more, to let them know about their rights, to let them know more about the bigger benefits you’ve got as a female footballer. It’s not just playing on the field, there is a lot of information you need to know both on and off the field. So this is one of the reason I’m a part of FIFPRO.”
Ahead Of The World Cup, she declared: “Honestly can’t wait to see how it’s going to look because of the rapid growth in the women’s football right now, it’s incredible. And this is a great step towards the right direction. I think with this development, I think so many countries, African countries will be aspiring to always be at the world cup now and it’s going to be a tough competition now”. The passionate striker, still believe no matter how it may be, the Super Falcons will emerge with a big lauderdale result Nigerians will be proud of.
