A truck conveying a double 20ft container was involved in solitary truck accident on Tuesday,31,2023, at Odo-Iyalaro bridge inward Maryland, Lagos State.
As at filling this report, LEGEND NEWS gathered that the cause of the accident was as a result of mechanical fault (broken spring pin of the rear tyre) which was developed by the truck while at high speed.
It was reported recently how a container fell and crushed nine occupants of a commercial bus to death at the Ojuelegba area of Lagos on Sunday.
And also another container fell along the Dopemu end of Lagos-Abeoukuta Expressway on Monday morning. However, no lives were lost.
According to the Permanent Secretary,LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent said there was no casualty.
He said “On getting to the scene of the incident, it was discovered that a truck with registration number unknown conveying a double 20ft container was involved in a solitary accident.
“Further information gathered at the scene of the incident revealed that the incident occured due to mechanical fault (broken spring pin of the rear tyre) developed by the truck while at high speed.
PS LASEMA, further said that the truck as a result of this swayed to the side and the containers fell off blocking the entire road inward independence tunnel.
“The impediments have been recovered off the road with aid of the Agency’s heavy duty equipment Goliath and recovery operations concluded.
No further updates at the scene of the incident,he added.
