The junior national team of Senegal, young Teranga Lions of Senegal have emerged African under champions. They achieved the worthy feat in the grand style at the 2023 Total Energies AFCON U20 tournament by beating the Gambian U-20 team 2-0, in the finals played on Saturday’s evening.
The passionate young Senegalese capped their stellar performance in the championship with classical goals from Soulayemane Faye and Mamadou Camara in the first and second half of the exciting match.
The fantastic goals gave the young lions their historic first-ever U-20 trophy after four unsuccessful attempts. It is worthy to note that, the Cubs won the trophy unbeaten and didn’t concede any goal at the tournament.
This historic victory, has the total dominance of African male football by Senegal in the last one year and a month. Incredible.
It would be recalled that Senegal has won the 2021 AFCON; the 2022 Beach Soccer AFCON; CHAN 2022 and now the 2023 U20 AFCON trophies, to establish their current incredible leadership in African football house.
