The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, will on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at the Blue Roof, Lagos Television, Agidingbi, Ikeja, bid farewell to Lagos State pilgrims travelling for the Y2022 hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (LSMPWB), Mr. Hakeem Kosoko, said that the occasion will afford the Governor, his deputy and other government functionaries the opportunity to have personal interactions with the pilgrims and wish them well on the journey.
He explained that the event would also be used to further educate the intending pilgrims about the spiritual exercise as well as what is expected of them in the Holy land, adding that the Grand Chief Imam of Lagos State, His Eminence, Sheikh Sulaiman Oluwatoyin Abou-Nolla is the spiritual father of the day.
According to him, lectures will also be delivered by two erudite Islamic Scholars: Imam Hakeem Lawal, who will speak on the topic, “Achieving an Acceptable Hajj”, while Alhaji Sheikh Uthman Sannu Shehu will deliver the second lecture with the title “Expectations from Al-Hujjaj after the Exercise”.
It has been the practice of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board to organise a one-day seminar for the purpose of offering prayer to Allah for a safe journey by the intending pilgrims and government officials embarking on the journey.
