The Rotary Club of Maryland District 9110, in conjunction with its Club in Club (C in C), The Fortuna Forum, led by Rowland Okoli, host the last fellowship of the month “CELEBRATION FELLOWSHIP”, dedicated to the “October Month of Economic Empowerment.” This special initiative as been for over two decades “Micro-credit Scheme” benefiting small-scale business owners in the Maryland and Onigbongbo communities. The program extends interest-free soft loans to empower individuals, reduce unemployment, alleviate poverty, and catalyze economic growth within the local small-scale business sector.
Dr. Bonaventure Egboanugo, Chair of the Micro-credit Committee, enthusiastically expressed his thoughts during the event, highlighting the remarkable fundraising achievements of the club. He proudly disclosed that the club distributed one hundred thousand Naira each to ten small-scale business owners, and additionally equipped two individuals with essential hairdressing tools, while another pair received nail kits. This program is designed to offer support to individuals grappling with economic challenges, recognizing the current hardships in the nation and the importance of promoting diligence and entrepreneurship.
These impressive achievements were made possible under the dynamic leadership of the 23rd President of the Rotary Club of Maryland, Mr. Victor Anosike, FCA. His visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to community service have been instrumental in driving the club’s success in this noble endeavor.
The Rotary Club of Maryland has upheld a longstanding commitment to community support, consistently organizing similar initiatives over the past two decades. The pivotal role played by the Micro-credit Committee in identifying community members in need, particularly those involved in various small-scale businesses, has been instrumental in helping them attain financial stability.
