Men of State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Panti-Yaba, Lagos, today, arraigned three male and a female teacher of the Chrisland School, Idimu, Lagos, before Yaba Chief Magistrates’ court, for allegedly concealing a sex tape of a student (names withheld) recorded in Dubai.
The teachers docked before the court are: Oladotun Sotundape, 56; Elesho Tajudeen;32, Rhoda Olanipekun; 45, and Ajigboye Hammed, 41.
They were arraigned on a two count-charge of conspiracy and attempt to pervert the course of justice before Chief Magistrate Adeola Adedayo Olatubosun.
Arraigning the defendants before the court, Mrs. Yetunde Cardoso, Officer-In-Charge of SCID Legal department, appeared with Mr Augustine Nwabuisi for the prosecution.
Cardoso, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) told the court that the defendants committed the offence on April 25, at Chrisland School, in Victoria Garden City, Idimu, Lagos.
She said that the defendants were asked to chaperone the students to Dubai for a world school games.
She alleged that the students engaged in indecent sexual acts while on the trip and a 10-year-old student made a sex tape which the teachers conspired to conceal.
She also told the court that the teachers allegedly obstructed the course of justice by hiding the indecent acts of the students’ sex video before it later went viral.
The offence, according to Cardoso, contravened sections 411 and 97 (1) (3) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Adedayo granted the defendants bail in the sum of N300,000 each with three sureties each in like sum.
She ordered that the sureties must submit copies of their National Identification Number (NIN) and their Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA card).
The court further directed that one of the sureties must be a land owner and that all of them must be residing within the court’s.
She also ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Chief Magistrate Adebayo ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
She adjourned the case until June 13 for mention.
Charges against the teachers read; “that you OLADOTUN SOTUNDE ‘M’, ELESHO TAJUDEEN ‘M’, RHODA OLANIPEKUN ‘F’, AJIBOYE HAMMED ‘M’ on or before 25th day of April 2022 at Chrisland School, Victoria Garden City, Idimu Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit. Conduct likely to cause breach of peace and indecent practices amongst your school pupils during the participated world schools games and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
“That you OLADOTUN SOTUNDE ‘M’, ELESHO TAJUDEEN ‘M’, RHODA OLANIPEKUN ‘F’, AJIBOYE HAMMED ‘M’ on or before 25th day of April, 2022 at Chrisland School, Victoria Garden City, Idimu Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, having returned from participated world school games involving your students, did intentionally obstruct, prevent, pervert or defeat the course of justice by concealing the indecent acts of your school girl sex video amongst the students before it went viral, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 97 (1) (3) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
