Having consulted far and wide, the hierarchy of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council has picked two Ex-Officio members to strengthen and complement efforts of the Adeleye Ajayi led Executive.
The announcement was made during the August Congress of Lagos State Council which held at the Ladi Lawal Press Centre, Alausa Ikeja on Saturday.
The two newly appointed Ex-Officio members are Mrs. Alaba Igbarola, Chairperson Photo Journalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN), and Mr. Gboyega Oni, of the Federated Maritime Chapel (FMMC), who is the Vice President of Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN).
Lagos NUJ Chairman, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi said the duo will bring their expertise to bear, as they both have the experience to add value to the Union.
“These are two strong individuals who are well equipped, and very sound on the job”.
Mrs. Igbarola served as Special Assistant (SA) Photo to the former Governor of Oyo State, late Alao Akala and his counterpart in Ekiti State Ayo Fayose.
“Gboyega Oni on the other hand served as Secretary of Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria Journalists (MARAN), under my leadership as President of the Association” Ajayi said.
A motion of adoption to cement their nomination as Ex-Officio was moved by Mr. Abiodun Akinbusuyi, a Veteran Journalist and former Secretary, NUJ Lagos Council while Tayo Ogunbowale of Lagos Television (LTV) seconded the motion.
NUJ members congratulated the duo, while urging them to keep the flag of the Union flying at all times.
