BBC News has recently shared the story of a 50-year-old woman who identifies as Mrs Okiemute Okoruwa, that found love again and got married at such age. During this interview with BBC News, she revealed how she was mocked and abused by many Nigerians because she decided to remarry at the age of 50 despite having three grown children.
According to her, she got heavily criticized both online and offline by those who felt it was not necessary for her to marry again as she already has three grown men as children. She stated that before she got married to Mr Kingsley Okoruwa who is 51-years-old and also a father of four children, she consulted her boys first and told them of how she didn’t want to be alone at her age and they agreed that she can remarry. She further made it clear, that the various opinion of Nigerians about her marriage does not matter as she has found happiness.
She said, “My decision to remarry at the age of 50 was heavily disapproved by many people both online and offline.
“I was heavily mocked and abused for my decision as they called me an old woman that wants to remarry despite having three grown men as children”.
