…. Joins Sanwo-Olu to Commission Oyingbo overpass bridge

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji has described Lagos State as a shining example of transformative leadership and a reference point in continuity in government.

Governor Oyebanji who gave the commendation in Lagos on Sunday at the commissioning of the Lagos Rail Transit Red Line Oyingbo overpass bridge, said there is a lot to learn in the Lagos Development model as well as in the continuity of progressive governance in the state.

Oyebanji who thanked Governor Sanwo- Olu for inviting him to commission the ultra modern bridge, as part of peer review process, said he is looking forward to inviting the Lagos Governor be part of legacy projects commissioning in Ekiti State .

Governor Oyebanji, in his remarks shortly before commissioning the bridge, paid glowing tribute to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he said laid a solid foundation for progressive governance and infrastructure development in Lagos state, when he served as Governor of the state between 1999 and 2007, adding that the tempo of development has been sustained because successive administrations built on the solid foundation.

He described Lagos as a beacon of progressivity and stability and attributed its success to a government that wholeheartedly embraces the policies, programmes, and vision of its predecessor.

Expressing his admiration for the sustainable development in Lagos, Oyebanji said Lagos State serves as an inspiring example of what can be achieved when leaders prioritize the welfare and development of their citizens over partisan politics, ultimately paving way for a brighter future

Oyebanji explained that Ekiti State in its 27 years of existence has just begun to enjoy the benefits of continuity in governance, adding that his quest in the first year of office was to build on the achievements of the immediate past Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi with projects inherited being completed while new ones have been flagged off for socio economic and infrastructural growth of Ekiti State.

He revealed that many heads of MDAs in Ekiti State have been engaging their counterparts in Lagos on peer review mechanism of programmes and policies of both states.

While commending Governor Sanwo- Olu, whom he described as his mentor, for his outstanding achievements and reforms which has consistently improved the quality of life of Lagosians, he urged Lagosians to continue to support Sanwo-Olu administration and ensure that they jealously guard the progressive governance.

“ Today’s event speaks to what is possible when you have a government that believes in the vision, in the policies and the programs of his predecessors. Mr President as Governor of Lagos State, emplaced the building blocks for a new Lagos for which Governors Fashola, Ambode and now Governor Sanwo-Olu is building on.

“The import of this is that the people are the ultimate beneficiaries of such. Ekiti State has a lot to learn from Lagos state.

“In our 27 years as a state, this is the first time we are having a back to back government which succeeds itself and for the past 1 year we have been committed to completing the projects started by former Governor Kayode Fayemi, most of which have been completed, some are in various stages of completion” the Governor asserted.

The Ekiti Governor charged Lagosians to continue to support Governor Sanwo- Olu and sustain the transformative leadership in the state,.

“I advise Lagosians to treasure this part and ensure we drive on this progressive lane so that our people will benefit from this.

“The development strive of Sanwo olu administration is audible to the dead and visible to the blind because these are things that you feel.

“In the past one year, most of our commissioners in Ekiti state have been to Lagos for peer review with their counterparts i because everybody is interested in the Lagos miracle which is due to continuity” he added.
