The Igbo community in Lagos State have been advised to go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation as the state government will continue to ensure the safety of lives and property of all residents.
The assurance was given today by the Director General of the Independent Campaign Council (ICC) Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Tayo Ayinde when the Igbo community paid a solidarity visit to the ICC office in Ikeja.
Ayinde who is also the Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwoolu said the Igbo community were not guilty of any crimes for voting for their kinsman, Mr Peter Obi in the just concluded presidential election.
He noted that many Yoruba voters did not come out to vote last Saturday adding that voter apathy was widely responsible for the party’s defeat in Lagos.
Ayinde said the Sanwo-Olu’s administration had been working assiduously towards ensuring the health and prosperity of all residents regardless of tribe or religious affiliations.
He said the Governor, thus, deserves the votes of all residents for a second term in office.
Earlier in his address, the leader of the political wing of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Solomon Ogbona pledged their unflinching support for the APC in the March 11 gubernatorial election.
Ogbona acknowledged that his people had prospered in Lagos because of the accommodating nature of their host communities.
Meanwhile, the ICC leadership led by the DG visited Agege and Ifako-Ijaye local governments for town hall meetings to review the recently held presidential election.
Grassroots political leaders promised to immediately embark on a house-to-house campaign to ensure that more Lagosians come out to exercise their franchise in the March 11 gubernatorial elections.
