The chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has given reasons some Nigerians with valid visas have been turned back at the airport by UAE authorities
Two days ago, some Nigerians took to Twitter to call out the UAE authorities for turning them back at the airport despite having valid visas. Videos of the disappointed passengers were shared online
Recently, some Nigerians were said to have encountered problem when they got to Dubai. Even though they had valid visas, they were held down at a particular place and later sent back to Nigeria. This incident caused a lot of reactions from Nigerians as they wanted to know why people with valid visas were still sent back to Nigeria.
Abiki Dabiri has now come out to explain why this happened. She said that Dubai had tighten some of their laws, which had affected the people that were sent back. She said that they have decided not to give visa to any Nigerian male that is less than 30 years old. Some other laws included showing of bank statement for the last six months. Anybody going to Dubai must also show them where they will be staying, and provide proof because if they lie, the authorities will find out.
