Director of Falgate Food Air Commodore Iliyasu Yahaya Retired ,has said for Nigerian to have Food security they most be National security that will guide the farmers against all threats of insecurity.
The Director is speaking at the 2nd Annual Distributors and supplier conference and launching of new product called Fal Gold Rice,held in Kaduna at the weekend.
He said it was not the soldiers Job to farm but because he’s there there’s assurance that I can go to my farm when there’s security and no bandit or kidnapper will kidnap me and I will not be able to go back to my family.
The Director added that “at the end of the day so that’s why all hands should be on deck so that the soldiers is giving his weapons or arms an armination to be able to protect the farmers and then the farmer should be giving he’s fertilizer and farm input so that everybody will bring food to the nation,at the end of the day we have food security.
Commodore Ilyasu Yahaya maintained that agriculture is for everybody my submission inside was there are very many trades in agriculture therefore it’s not only about taking the Hoe and going to the Farm so many channels involved.
“So must people think when you say farming they mean you must go and dirty yourself in the farm, hence my contribution to that, in farming technology has come in that you can be a computer operator you can be a scientist doing crops fertilizer you can be doing herbicide and then even water if you have hard water it depends on what type of crop it will allow you to grow up to Mall,
“There’s other trade in agriculture that people are neglect simple weeding you can use herbicide or you can use manual labor and then when you have your products at the end of the day you’re going to put them on the ground in the stock you need to put simple nylon polypropylene material that have made into nylon
“So you can see that every body has a trade and then when you stayed you need a logistician a store manager and then an accountant and a statistician to tell you these year these was the statistics of all the crops that we grew product the profit and loss so when you have all that combination of various trade you cannot say agriculture is for the poor man or is for a rich man, but everybody all hands on deck.
We have over 200 casual staff in falgate we provide them accomodation and they are the ones doing all the loading uploading and trashing and cleaning all the manual labor in the factory
Also in our youth empowerment program in falgate we give them input, fertilizer the seeds themselves and we told them how we partner with them when we give it to you go and farm you either bring back the rice that we buy back from you at a good price.
In an interview with the managing Director of the company Mallam Abubakar Sadiq Muhammad Falalu, said Falgates is agric and agro allied company,that specializes particularly in production of parboiled Rice we’re into farming and supplies of agric and agro allied commodities.
He explained that this progra is an annual event which we invited and appreciate our friends, families and distributors our suppliers all the stakeholders in our business we want to appreciate all the effort and contribution they’re giving to us and to our business.
when asked how the recent black out affect their business? He said absolutely the whole North western states are affected by that we have to rely heavily on diesel in terms of powering machine as you all know today the cost of diesel is close to 1,200 today, so not easy to run your factory 24 hours 7 days a week but because we wanted to made-up with our customer demand so we kept on producing even with the high cost of production.
The managing Director therefore calls on federal government to provide energy there’s no industrialization without energy so of course we need to look far beyond the existing energy sources that we have and expand as much as possible to make it available for businesses because energy is primary factor in any production.
Also speaking a distributor from Abia State South Eastern Nigeria, Chief Ebela Anezemba praises the company he said
Rice business is a good business because the number one food in Nigeria in general is Rice the whole state I think if you don’t cook rice you’ll make Tuwo or other things with Rice.
Chief Ebela Anezemba added that falgate rice company is a number one rice supplier in Aba with good quality rice I called for price reduction is it will be a good thing if the government can assist us and help the producers assist them it will help them to reduce the price like subsidy the whole Nigeria will benefited from it.
