The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has announced that the ongoing industrial action will continue until further notice, pending the outcome of a meeting scheduled for Tuesday. This update was shared on the NLC’s social media handle.
Despite reports of a potential agreement between the Federal Government and organized labour on Monday, the strike action has not been officially called off.
The meeting between labour leaders and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, aimed to address the demands for a improved minimum wage.
According to a statement, the Federal Government has expressed commitment to a national minimum wage higher than N60,000. However, the NLC is awaiting feedback from its organs before making a decision on the strike’s continuation.
