In an exciting development, two Nigerian women’s weightlifters, Rafiatu Folashade Lawal and Joy Ogbonne Eze, have qualified for the prestigious Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
This achievement marks a historic milestone for Nigeria in the sport of weightlifting.
The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) ratified their qualifications, confirming their spots in the women’s 59 kg and 71 kg weight classes, respectively. Both athletes showcased exceptional skill and dedication, securing their positions among the top ten in their weight divisions.
The Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF) President, Dr. Ibrahim Abdul, praised the athletes’ hard work and assured them of comprehensive support for their Olympic preparations.
