The Nigeria Idol Show keeps getting hotter with each episode. Last Sunday’s episode was a show stopper, with contestants tackling the vibrant theme “World of Africa.” They delivered powerful renditions of hit songs by African artists, leaving the audience wanting more.
But like any competition, there can only be one winner, and sadly, we had to say goodbye to Jennifer. Her elimination left everyone speechless, including the judges, who had previously praised her performance as one of the best that night. Despite the shocking news, Jennifer delivered a stunning rendition of Asake’s hit song “Lonely” as a final farewell, leaving a lasting impression on viewers and judges alike.
The show kicked off with Gracia setting the stage literally on fire. Her performance of Miriam Makeba’s iconic “Pata Pata” transported us to South Africa and set the tone for a night filled with captivating African music.
However, the other contestants chose to stay home and performed hit songs by Nigerian artists. Maio serenaded the audience with a smooth performance of Nobody by DJ Neptune and Joeboy. Lady Ruth delivered a beautiful performance of Tems’ hit “Try Me,” while Lammy brought the steeze with Wizkid’s evergreen hit song “Holla at Your Boy,” giving starboy vibes.
Mira Clear delivered a powerful comeback performance of “Kedike” by Chidinma, leaving the judges thoroughly impressed after their not-so-great feedback the previous week. David Garland and Steeve electrified the stage with their performances. David Garland had everyone moving with Reekado Banks’ “Easy,” while Steeve kept the momentum going with Davido’s recent hit “Feel.”
Chioma’s rendition of Judge Omawumi’s song “In the Music” was beautiful. Her performance was so great that Omawumi acknowledged it. In Omowumi’s words, “It was a humbling experience.” To top it off, Omawumi spontaneously joined Chioma on stage, and the duo delivered a phenomenal duet.
Chima ended the show with a beautiful performance of Beautiful People by Chike, which earned him a standing ovation from the judges.
