NCC’s Dr. Aminu Maida Vows To Boost Telecom Sector’s GDP Contribution To 25% | The Legend News

 Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), pledged to drive sustainable growth in the telecom sector, aiming to increase its contribution to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from 14% to 25%.

In a heartwarming reception organized by the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON).

Maida acknowledged the industry’s challenges but expressed confidence in the sector’s potential, highlighting its impressive growth and contributions to the economy.

He assured telecom operators of the NCC’s commitment to transparency, stakeholder engagement, and collective growth.

Industry leaders and ATCON members commended Maida for his leadership, openness, and vision, expressing optimism about the sector’s future under his guidance.

Biodun Omoniyi, MD/CEO of VDT Communications, and Mr. Chidi Okonkwo, MD of TECNO Mobile, echoed similar sentiments, praising the EVC’s vision and collaborative spirit. Nihinlola Mary Fafore of Huawei Nigeria, Ike Nnamani of Digital Realty [Nigeria], and Funke Opeke of MainOne also expressed optimism about the sector’s future under Maida’s leadership.

Lekan Balogun of NetAccess System, John Nwachukwu of Zoracom, and Mohammed Rudman of the Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria [IXPN] highlighted the crucial role of connectivity in national development and praised the NCC’s regulatory efforts. Wale Abu, CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies, lauded Maida’s credentials and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the industry to greater heights.
