After the disruption on March 14, 2024, affecting voice and data services due to undersea fiber optic cuts along the coasts of Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is pleased to announced that services have now been restored to nearly 90% of their peak capacity.
In a statement signed and issued by Director, Public Affairs, NCC, Reuben Muoka, on 18th March, 2024.
According to the statement, it states “All affected operators have successfully utilized recovery capacity from unaffected submarine cables, allowing them to regain approximately 90% of their peak utilization levels.
Furthermore, Mobile Network Operators have confirmed to the Commission that data and voice services are now operating optimally, thanks to the activation of alternative connections while awaiting full repairs of the undersea cables.
NCC expresses gratitude to telecom consumers for their patience and understanding during the downtime caused by the undersea fiber cuts.
