My Husband didn’t like to work on Sunday till that day” – Driver’s Wife Speaks On Husband’s Death | The Legend News

The widow of the driver who was involved in the container truck accident that happened at Ojuelegba on the 29th of January, 2023, has spoken up following the death of her husband. Speaking with Vanguard, the wife of the driver said that her husband didn’t usually work on Sundays until that very day.

She explained that the only reason why he was at work on the day of the incident was because of the scarcity of fuel, s willtressing that her late husband couldn’t get fuel on Friday and Saturday, so he decided to go out on Sunday.

She revealed that her husband had just gotten the bus in which he was using to work, and they were all happy when it came, thinking this would yield something good, not knowing that it would lead to her husband’s demise.

The wife of the late driver described her husband as a calm and easy-going person, saying that he didn’t use to have any problem with anyone.

She explained that her husband had called her in the morning to prepare food for her on that very day. That was the last she heard from him.

Her brother’s husband who lived with them asked her if her husband was at work saying that an accident just happened involving a container truck and a mini bus. She rebuked it saying that it wouldn’t be her portion.

Only for her to see the corpse of her husband. She broke down in tears saying that there is nothing the government can do to bring back her husband, stressing that if they gave her money, it would still finish and wouldn’t solve anything.

She urged the government to see to the fuel scarcity because that was why her husband was at work on that Sunday. She also asked them to stop the truck from using the road during the day, if not, such accidents will keep happening.

“Let them repair the road. I am a young woman, but they have forced me into widowhood. Now, I have no husband. This is not fair,” she added.

Recall that the articulated vehicle carrying a 20ft container fell on a commercial bus in the Ojuelegba area of Lagos State. 9 passengers were reported to have been crushed to death while a woman survived with injuries.
