MTN Provides Update On Restored Service | The Legend News 

Bayobab Group, a subsidiary of the telecommunications powerhouse MTN Group, has successfully reinstated its operational capabilities recent disruptions.

In an announcement made on Tuesday, the telecom company revealed that it had overcome the challenges it faced, restoring more than 3 Terabits per second (Tbps) of its network capacity.

The disruption, which had the potential to impact connectivity and service delivery, was swiftly addressed by Bayobab’s technical team, showcasing their efficiency and expertise in resolving the issue.

A statement released by the company stated, “As of March 19, 2024, Bayobab Group, a subsidiary of MTN Group, has successfully restored its operations, recovering over 3 Terabits per second (Tbps) of capacity across our network footprint.

“Despite the recent subsea cable disruptions on March 14, 2024, we have demonstrated our ability to maintain a resilient network and effectively reroute traffic.

“During this challenging period, our focus was on restoring services promptly by deploying new cables to enhance inter-connectivity and establish alternative routes, thereby strengthening our network resilience.

“This strategy underscores our commitment to ensuring network reliability and our dedication to swiftly reconnect Africa and our customers, bringing us closer to reaching all our valued customers.

Bayobab’s ecosystem enables secure scalable global traffic within Africa and worldwide serving 19 MTN markets, third-party Mobile Network Operators, Technology corporations, other Telecoms Service Providers.”

The recent cuts to the undersea cable supplying Internet connectivity to Nigeria and countries in West African sub-region had led to operational adjustments for many banks, financial institutions, telecom companies, and related businesses.

Affected cable companies include the West African Cable System and African Coast to Europe on the West Coast route from Europe, both of which experienced. SAT3 and MainOne also downtime due to the cable cuts.
