LASEMA: Swift Response Averts Catastrophe At Alayabiagba Market Fire Incident | The Legend News

 Gas Explosion occurred at Alayabiagba Market, boundary in Apapa, Lagos, the fire outbreak happened 9:20 am on Tuesday, 26th of November,2024.

This was contained in a statement signed  by Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu,Permanent Secretary, LASEMA.

The report revealed that several shops within the market, burnt beyond recognition and goods worth million of naira destroyed.

According to the statement, “Upon arrival at Alayabiagba Market, located on Road in Apapa Ajegunle, emergency responders were met with a scene of chaos as flames engulfed several shops within the market.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire was ignited by a gas leak in one of the market shops, which rapidly spread to adjacent establishments.

 A coordinated response from multiple emergency services effectively contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings.

The fire was swiftly extinguished, and measures were implemented to manage the incident scene, minimizing the risk of further incidents.

Collaboration with various stakeholders ensured that operations proceeded smoothly and efficiently.

The fire resulted in significant damage, affecting eleven (11) shops and causing losses estimated in the millions of naira.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries reported as a result of the incident.

Responding Agencies includes, Cobra Team, LASEMA, Lagos State Fire Service, Federal Fire Service, Dangote Fire Service, Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), and  Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The fire has been fully extinguished, and all dampening operations have been completed. The emergency response operation has concluded successfully.
