The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have temporarily suspended their nationwide strike for five days. This decision was announced by TUC President Festus Osifo in Abuja on Tuesday.
The suspension aims to allow for uninterrupted negotiations with the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage. A communique with further details is expected to be released soon.
The development follows a meeting between labour leaders and the Federal Government, where Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, assured that the administration is committed to a minimum wage higher than N60,000 and promised no reprisals against striking workers.
