Popular Yoruba Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has disclosed that she is not ready to pay N18,640,092 tax levy charged her by the Lagos State Government through the state Internal Revenue Service on Monday with seven days ultimatum.
Sharing the pictures of the personal income tax signed on the letterhead of the LIRS on her verified Instagram handle, Ojo said she will not pay and is ready to be arrested because she did not understand the methodology behind the frequent issuance of the tax levy.
“Jidesanwoolu @lagosstategovt, please, how do you people come up with these outrageous personal income taxes you send on a daily basis?
On Monday, 5 June, 2023, the Lagos State Government through the state Internal Revenue Board, ordered Ojo to pay N18,642,092 being taxes owed the state government.
She was given a 7-day ultimatum to pay the money or face prosecution with the penalty being either fine, jail term or both.
