There was general low voter turnout in some areas of Lagos state despite the electoral officials early arrival to the polling units in Ikeja, Agege and Ojota.
In polling unit 021 in Ward 02 of Ojodu, the electoral officials arrived at about 8:30am and voting commenced 9am.
The electoral officials addressed the voters on the voting modalities and urged them to organize themselves to ensure peaceful poll.
Meanwhile, the Lawmaker representing Ikeja federal constituency, Hon. James Faleke, who arrived his polling Unit 02, Ikeja Local Government 11, Ojodu around 9:12am on Saturday to cast his vote, expressed confidence in Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Faleke while speaking with journalists said that the voting process was peaceful, adding that it took him less than one minute to cast his vote.
He urged INEC to sustain its effectiveness till the end of the electoral process.
Also, the Chief of Staff to governor of Lagos state, Mr Tayo Ayinde, who arrived his polling unit (014) in Ward 09 at Central Pry School, GRA ikeja, Lagos on Saturday around 10:50am to cast his vote, expressed satisfaction with electoral process and encouraged voters to come to cast their votes.
Ayinde said that the turnout was impressive and better than the presidential election, adding that the election was peaceful.
Speaking with some voters at polling unit 038 Ward 09 in the Government Reserves Area (GRA) area of Onigbongbo LCDA, they applauded the electoral body for their early arrival, urging the security agencies to be responsive if called upon.
In Agege, most of the polling units witnessed low turnout as youths were seen on the roads playing football. In Capitol road axis of Agege, the youths mount goal posts playing football.
Chairman, APC Arewa Community, Agege, Lagos/ Chairman of Arewa Community APC South-West, Alhaji Saadu Yusuf Ɗandare Gulma in Lagos on Saturday encourage agitated youth to always ensure to pass through learning process before taking up any political positions.
He advised youths to be patience in achieving their aspirations that nothing can be gained through violence rather learn under a tutor and thereafter come out strong not with violence.
He maintain his believes in the victory of the progressives as demonstrated by his constituency witnessed when he cast his votes.
Chairman, Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, Hon Johnson Sunday Babatunde is also sure of victory for his party in Orile Agege, unlike the presidential election he said the spite the low turn out they will maintain the lead needed to emerge victorious.
He however wondered why many electorate refused to come out and participate in the gubernatorial election despite all the awareness and campaign embarked upon before the election.
Babatunde encourage local participation in politics at grassroot level. He is not anxious about the result of the election based on the information available gathered through the party agents and he is sure of victory for his principal.
