After an extensive meeting on Monday, the federal government and organized labour groups signed a new agreement on minimum wage.
According to Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the national tripartite committee on minimum wage will convene daily for the next week to finalize details.
While specifics of the agreement remain undisclosed, Akume assured that the President Bola Tinubu administration is committed to increasing the minimum wage beyond N60,000. Additionally, he confirmed that no worker will face reprisals for participating in the strike.
The meeting, which began at 5:00 pm and concluded at nearly 11:00 pm, marked a significant step forward in the negotiations.
