In a heartwarming gesture, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has awarded Olaniyi Olawale, the outstanding best graduating student of Lagos State University (LASU), with sum of ten million naira. Olawale’s remarkable achievement, graduating with a 4.98 CGPA from the Accounting Department, was recognized at the 27th Convocation ceremony.
The Governor commended LASU for its resilience and commitment to producing high-quality graduates, meeting the country’s manpower needs. He encouraged all undergraduates to strive for excellence, emulating the institution’s remarkable performance.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, highlighted the university’s achievements, including infrastructural development, education advancements, and strengthened research, reaffirming the institution’s dedication to continued growth and human capital enhancement.
This recognition celebrates exceptional academic achievement and motivates future generations of scholars.
In his opening remarks, the Chancellor of the University, Professor Gbolahan Elias, who thanked Sanwo-Olu for addressing infrastructural needs of the University and welfare of workers, called for more support from individuals and corporate organizations.
Elias urged the Graduands to be good ambassadors of the Institution and agents of positive change in the country.
The convocation had over eleven thousand graudands of Diploma, first degree, post graduate degree and Master Degree, conferred eighty nine Doctorate of philosophy degrees, sixty six professional Doctorate degrees with two honorary Doctorate degrees for astute Politician, Prince Taju Olusi and an Industrialist, Dr Samuel Adedoyin for their contributions to the University, Lagos and the Country in general.
