The second in the series of praise and worship program organized by the Redeemed Miracle Area, under the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos Province 57 was held on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at the church premises in Ojodu. Tagged ‘Praiz Extraordinaire 2.0’, the event of which the first edition was held same time in 2002 witnessed an array of gospel musicians who literally brought the roof down with spiritually-filled high vibe performance of praise, worship and talent hunt for budding young musicians.
Among the top gospel artistes at hand was award winning singer, vocalist and songwriter Emmanuel Ebenezer,popularly known as Eben who thrilled the audience with some of his hit songs like Stayed on You, Everything, Lifted Hands, All the Way, and other worship renditions. Also on the stand was Apostle Sope Adenuga, with his wife Pastor (Mrs) Esther Adenuga.
Adenuga is a gospel musician, teacher, preacher and overseer of Livingforce Christian Assembly, Akute. Gospel minister Ibukun Adegoke of the RCCG National Praise Team as well as musician Idowu Olumide rendered some of their best performances at the praise event.
The pastor-in-charge of RCCG Lagos Province 57, Pastor Lekan Yussuf, accompanied by his wife Pastor (Mrs) Adeola Yussuf, commended the initiative of the hosts led by Pastor and Pastor (Mrs) Godfrey Iluobe for coming up with such laudable program for the glory and edification of God and Jesus Christ. He later prayed for the congregation, the invited artistes, church of God and the nation.
In his welcome note, the Parish Pastor of the host assembly, Godfrey Iluobe, who took his short exhortation from the book of Psalm 67: 5-7 enumerated the importance of regularly offering praise and worship to our Creator. He urged all present to imbibe the spirit of not just offering ordinary praise but extraordinary ones, as the event is not a concert nor a jamboree but a spiritual exercise. He said, “As the Psalmist make us understand that if people praise the Lord, the earth will yield in increase, bountifulness and blessings unlimited. When we connect ourselves with praise and worship, refreshing miracle and victory will follow”.
Furthermore, Iluobe advised that in the face of huma challenges, what God demand from us is to praise and worship Him as that’s the antidote to freedom. He concluded that freedom and upliftment also comes through praise; making reference to the biblical story of Paul and Silas, who were left off the bondage of Roman incarceration when they sang praises unto God, as revealed in the book of Acts of Apostles chapter sixteen.
The highlight of the program was a talent hunt brought in by one of the guest artistes, Eben to encourage children and youths to venture into gospel music instead of the worldly songs now common amidst this generation. The discovered youths were instantly compensated with varied cash rewards by Eben who promised to monitor and mentor them for greater tomorrow.
The praise evening was attended by eminent men and women of God, among whom are Pastor (Mrs) Grace Adeyemi, Pastor and Pastor (Mrs) Omilabu Adeyemi, Pastor Idowu Ige, Pastor Jonathan Adeboye, Pastor (Mrs) Moye Oreola, Pastor Uche Obinna, Pastor Owa, Pastor Raymond Fekumo and Deaconess Joke Fekumo.
