The historic and laudable World Cup performance of Moroccan football team has finally come to a memorable end on the evening of Thursday, December 15th. The enterprising team that set the pace as Africa’s first World Cup semi-finalist, was ceremoniously sent home by France, the defending Champion.
The Moroccans lost to France 2-0 in the second semi-final of the ongoing World Cup 2022. However, France the 2018 Champion work extra hard and went extra mile to triumph in the keenly contested encounter put in everything in their football arsenal to seal a place for the final on Sunday, December 18th with Argentina.
The interesting game which showcased football at its best, saw Kylian Mbappe, the “tormentor- in -chief for the French team helping his team to zoom to victory with his stellar performance. Mbappe ‘s standout football skills aided France to score her first goal by Theo Hernandez in the fifth minutes of the first half.
Subsequently, in the second half, Mbappe continued to give the Moroccans tough time as he improved on his dribbles and long range ball runs which the Moroccans tried their best to stop him but failed in their efforts. Mbappe s one man-riot-show paid off for France as he led them to score the second goal in the second half to book their final ticket. The goal was scored by ” hungry” substitute named Randan Kolo Muani in the 79th minutes of the match.
With this deserved victory France moves ahead for the much- anticipated final which will witness young football star Mbappe locking horns with iconic Lionel Messi for an epochal final the World biggest football event. While France will come to the final to set a new record of winning the World Cup back to back which took place last in 1962. Argentina will come to the final to improve on their records as she won the elusive Cup last at Mexico 1986. The tournament tagged Maradona World Cup. Could Sunday final be also tagged Messi’s World Cup? Sunday final will be the place for the answer.
