FIFA Women’s World Cup: Three New African Records Created By Super Falcons After Qualifying For Knock-out Stage | The Legend News

The Super Falcons have achieved remarkable milestones in the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in New Zealand and Australia. By securing a goal less draw against the Republic of Ireland in Melbourne on July 31, 2023, they qualified for the Round of 16 and created three new African records.

Firstly, they became the first African team to keep two clean sheets at a FIFA Women’s World Cup, having previously kept a clean sheet against Canada.

Secondly, the Falcons accomplished a historic feat by going through the group stage without a single defeat, making them the first African Women’s National Team to achieve this milestone.

Lastly, they also set another African record by conceding only two goals in three matches, with those goals coming in their 3-2 victory over co-hosts Australia.

These achievements are not only significant for the Super Falcons but also for African women’s football. The records set by the team will remain unbroken until at least the next FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2027, except for the possibility of Morocco matching the record of two clean sheets
