Exclusive: Dankaka, Sister Fingered As Job Racketeering Scandal Hits FCC; DSS Arrests Owners Of Accounts Where Money Is Paid For Job Slots | The Legend News

By Editor, Isaac Daniel

Embattled Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Dr Muheeba (Fareedah) Dankaka is in the news again and again for the wrong reasons, reports thelegendnewsng.com

An investigative report on the activities of the Commission has uncovered a massive job racketeering scandal which has caught the attention of the Directorate of State Security (DSS).

Recently, this medium exclusively published a detailed story of how the embattled Dankaka got involved in identity falsification scam which case is still at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

A non-governmental organisation, LYGEL Youths and Leadership Initiatives Limited is in court presently challenging the need for Dankaka to remain in office in view of the glaring discrepancies in her education documents and her identity.

As if that was not enough, this media platform has also uncovered the job racketeering scandal currently in the commission in which the DSS has taken over investigation.

This medium learnt exclusively that sometime in September last year, a group of people sent a petition to the DSS asking the agency to conduct a discreet investigation into the activities of the Dankaka led Federal Character Commission in relation to job slots emanating from waivers giving to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government.

Indeed the DSS’ investigation revealed and uncovered a lot of anomalies going on in the FCC in which Dr Dankaka was allegedly the arrowhead.

Thegazellenews.com’s investigation revealed that the FCC is charged with the responsibility of granting MDAs waivers to recruit staff due to the fact that there was embargo on recruitment by the FG.

These waivers are granted to MDAs to recruit staff without necessarily advertising such recruitment exercise.

Prior to the ascension of Dankaka to the position of Chairman, there has been a standing rule in the Commission that such waivers should not exceed 100 staff.

However, investigation by this medium revealed that Dankaka has abandoned the rule granting waivers for the recruitment of staff exceeding the number stipulated by the rule of the commission. Not only that, Dankaka has been dishing out the waivers in total disregard to the Commissioners of the Commission.

In doing this, thegazellenews.com‘s investigation revealed that many job slots meant for the Commission for job seekers in the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was not only cornered by Dankaka, it was also alleged that the slots are being offered for sale to prospective job seekers.

As this story unfolds, thegazellenews.com will name the MDAs who got waivers recruitment and the number of slots allocated to them.

When the DSS commenced its investigation, it was discovered that indeed a job racketeering cartel was operating in the FCC with alleged active connivance of Dankaka.

A cartel involved in allegedly selling job slots to prospective job seekers. The job seekers are meant to pay certain amount of money into the account of members of the cartel which was allegedly headed by an elder sister of Dankaka.

Directing the affairs of the job seekers is one Babatunde Opoola, a staff of the FCC, Ilorin office. The DSS is after Opoola and it was also learnt that to shield him from arrest, Dankaka hurriedly transferred him from Ilorin to her office in Abuja. Opoola is currently working in the office of Dankaka while the DSS is looking for him to answer to the various allegations levelled against him by those who have been arrested by the agency in relation to the matter.

In fact, this medium learnt that one of Dankaka’s children was one of those arrested by the DSS in connection with the matter.

One of the job seekers who spoke with thegazellenews.com said he and his friend paid N2.5 million into the account of one of the person’s designated to collect the money.

“We paid N2.5 million, my friend and I but don’t know how much others paid because the money we paid varied,” he told our correspondent.

As at the time of writing this report, concerted efforts are being made to save the neck of Dankaka. Thegazellenews.com learnt that pressure from Offa Descendants Union (ODU) and traditional ruler of Offa have been on the DSS to give the FCC Chairman a soft landing.

This medium investigation revealed that the DSS has invited the job seekers who have paid money and members of the job racketeering cartel and it has been agreed that their money will be refunded.

“On 9 May, 2023, we met at the DSS office in Ilorin and it was agreed that a lawyer should be involved. It was agreed that our money will be refunded. Our names will be written with space on where we can sign after collecting the money. The lawyer will witness it. Copies of the agreement will be left at the DSS office in Ilorin and Akure,” our source added.

As at the time of writing this story, the ODU and the Offa monarch are running from pillar to post to shield Dankaka from the scandal but it was learnt that those arrested by the DSS have given useful information which has indicted the FCC Chairman.

However, there are fears that the DSS might also sweep the case under the carpet. “The man, Babatunde Opoola who coordinated the racket for Dankaka is working in her office now. There’s need for the DSS to arrest him if they’re hell bent on doing their job thoroughly,” a source told thegazellenews.com

This medium will keep you updated as events unfold in this scandal which has put the integrity of the FCC Chairman to test.
