Manchester United will be hoping to secure their first victory over Sevilla, when they both face each other at Old Trafford, for the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash.
Sevilla eliminated the Red Devils in the semifinal of the Europa League in the 2019/20 season and in the round of 16 in the 2017/18 season. A third encounter will kick off on Thursday at 7:55 pm on SuperSport La Liga (ch. 32).
Erik Ten Hag’s men will look to draw positives from their victories against their Spanish opponents this season in the Europa League. Real Sociedad at the group stage, Barcelona at the play-off, and Real Betis in the Round of 16.
United’s clash with Sevilla will make them the second team to face four different sides from the same country in a single season in a major European competition, as Leeds did the same in the 2000-01 UEFA Champions League. In a pre-match press conference, Ten Hag confirmed that Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw will be unavailable for the clash.
Also in the Europa League, Feyenoord will host Jose Mourinho’s Roma at the Stadion Feijenoord, for a rematch of last season’s UEFA Conference League final which the visitors won. The hosts remain without a win in their last three matches against Roma.
Whilst Feyenoord are the top scorers in this season’s UEFA Europa League with 21 goals in eight games, they will have to contend with a defence-minded Roma team who have kept clean sheets in their last three European games under the tutelage of Mourinho. Tune in SuperSport La Liga (ch. 32) at 5:40 pm, to enjoy the game.
