Red Bull hosted Nigeria’s finest street dancers and steppers at the Dance Your Style Nigeria National finals. The heated competition of moves, skills, theatrical vibrance and passion started in August with more than 450 Dancers across 3 cities, producing 16 finalists who slugged it out at the LASWA Barge of 5 Cowries Terminal, Falomo, Lagos.
The energy drink company had begun the scouting for the Dance champion across the country since August 6th, 2022, amplifying dance scenes from all corners of the country to build up and celebrate the diverse dance community by giving wings and showcasing the best talents.
One against one, with music that breaks all the rules, ranging from House to Rock, hip-hop to electro, down to Afro-beat, the dance battle had all shades of colour with guests getting enjoying the refreshing taste of Red bull energy drink, the 16 finalists gave their best with Danceotomi facing David Anietientabasi Udoh, popularly known as King Davinci at the final round, to which the latter emerged winner in a clean sweep, after being voted by the crowd.
Speaking, the new Dance King, King Davinci, a native of Akwa-Ibom, disclosed that He feels fulfilled winning the competition as he was just a spectator at the last edition. “I wanted to be a part of it so badly after the experience, so I told myself to not miss the next edition. I put in for the competition and made it to the finals. Above all, I thank God for the victory, especially in the presence of my Mother, which made this win a special one for me. Emerging as the Champion among the 450+ dancers that put in for this competition is not a small feat”.
“They say Redbull gives you wings and literally REDBULL has given me wings!! By giving me the opportunity to fly to South Africa, to represent Nigeria and to share the content of my heart with the world, I’m grateful and I do not take it for granted in any way!! Thank you Redbull”, He concluded.
In attendance was the renowned Nigerian dancer, choreographer, dance instructor and fitness coach – Kaffy who was seen conspicuously enjoying the unlimited fun being served at the event. Fast-rising Afrobeats talent, Nonzo was also on ground to serenade the audience with a tuneful sound.
The world finals of the Redbull Dance Your Style is scheduled to take place in South Africa in December 2022 where the champions from participating countries will be battling for the crown of the world dance champion.
