Court Remands Man Alleged Cyberbullying Of Monarch, 2 Bizmen  | The Legend News 

 

Justice Friday Ogazi of a Lagos Federal High Court, has ordered that one Yusuf Olatunji Hassan, be remanded at the Ikoyi facility of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS) till November 6.

Justice Ogazi made the remand order, sequel to his not guilty plea, to a seven-count of alleged cyberbullying and threat to life made against him by the operatives of the Nigeria Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The prosecutor Udo Joseph Essien, told the court that the defendant had committed the alleged offences sometimes in the month of August, 2023, at the Blue Roof of LTV Radio, Ikeja, Lagos.

The prosecutor told the court that the defendant intentionally transmitted a communication through a Computer system or network to commit the alleged illegal acts against the trio of Oba Abdul Ganiyu Olusegun Awokoya, whom he referred to as Onirete of irete ljebu, Audullahi Saheed Mosadoluwa, a.k.a. Saheed Ibile and Omotayo Awodeji, whom he called Alhaji Threeco.

The prosecutor told the court the the defendant’s acts placed monarch and the two businessmen in fear of death and caused them violence of bodily harm.

The prosecutor further informed the court the the defendant also defamed the traditional ruler and the two businessmen.

The alleged illegal acts of the defendant, the prosecutor said contravened sections 24(2)(a)(1) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevent‘on, etc.) Act, 2015 (as amended), 2024. 

The defendant’s offence also contravened sections 375 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code Act, Law of the Federation of Nigerian, 2004. 

However, the defendant had denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Following the defendant’s plea of not guilty, coupled with his lawyer’s inability to file his bail application, the prosecutor asked the court for a trial date, while equally urged the court to remand the defendant till the determination of the charge against him.

But the defendant’s lawyer, asked the court for a short date, to enable him file his client’s bail application and serve serve same on the prosecutor.

Consequently, Justice Ogazi adjourned the matter till November 6, for hearing of the defendant’s bail application. 

The judge however ordered that the defendant be remanded till the hearing and determination of his bail application.
