An alleged do, Osinowo Olujimi Obafemi, has been arraigned before Justice Yellim Bogoro of a Lagos Federal High Court, on a six count-charge of forgery.
Osinowo, 35, was arraigned before the court by the operatives of Force Criminal Investigation Department (ForceCID) Annex Alagbon-Ikoyi Lagos, in a charge numbered FHC/L/714c/2024.
The prosecutor, Barrister Henry Obiazi, informed the court that the defendant and others now at large, committed the offences between September 2023 and January 24, 2024, within Lagos State.
The defendant according to the prosecutor between the aforementioned dates, forged forge Central Motor Registry’ certificate No. CMR/01/25/23/000050356, dated January 24, 2024; Lagos State University Teaching Hospital medical report dated January 25, 2024 with ref. No. SUB/LASUTH2447; Police Character Certificate dated 13/09/2023 with reference number CY: 2410/X/CCR/V.7/9597; Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja medical report dated 22/01/2024, with ref. SUB/LASUTH 76216, and Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja medical report dated 25/01/2024, with ref. SUB/LASUTH 42152.
The defendant was alleged to have issues the forged documents to the following people, Omotayo Adijat Oluwatoyin; Erho Edafe Kelvin; Shonekan Rukayat Mojisola; Mr. Ehiagwina Kennedy Odianosen and Mr. Musa-Etiko Kafayay Oyeronke.
The prosecutor told the court that the offences committed by the defendant contravened Sections 516 and 467 of the criminal code Act, Cap C38 LFN, 2004.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges when it was read to him.
Following the defendant’s not guilty plea, the prosecutor asked the court for a trial date. He also urged the court to remand the defendant in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS) till the determination of the matter.
Due to the inability of the defendant’s lawyer to file bail application, Justice Bogoro adjourned the matter to October 17, for hear of his bail application.
The judge also ordered that the defendant be remanded in NCOS’s custody till the hearing and determination of his bail application.
Some of the charges against the defendant read: “that you Osinowo Olujimi Obafemi ‘m’ and others still at large sometimes on or before September, 2023 at Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Hon. Court did conspired together to commit felony to with; forgery and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 516 of the criminal code Act, Cap C38 LFN, 2004
“That you Osinowo Olujimi Obafemi ‘m’ and others Still at large sometimes on or before 24 day of January, 2024 at Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Hon. Court did with intent to defraud forge Central Motor Registry’ certificate No. CMR/01/25/23/000050356, dated 24/01/24 issued to Omotayo Adijat Oluwatoyin with intent that it may in anyway be use or acted upon as genuine to the prejudice of others and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 467 of the criminal code Act, cap c38, LFN, 2024.
“That you Osinowo Olujimi Obafemi ‘M’ and others still at large sometimes on or before 13th September, 2023 at Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Hon. Court did with intent to defraud forge Police Character Certificate dated 13/09/2023 with reference number CY: 2410/X/CCR/V.7/9597, and issued to Shonekan Rukayat Mojisola with intent that it may in anyway acted on as genuine to the detriment of others and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 467 of the criminal code, cap. C38 LFN, 2004.
“That you Osinowo Olujimi Obafemi ‘M’ and others still at large sometimes on or before 25th January, 2024 at Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Hon. Court did with intent to defraud forge a Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja medical report dated 25/01/2024, with ref. SUB/LASUTH 42152 purportedly issued to Mr. Musa-Etiko Kafayay Oyeronke with intent that it may in anyway be use or acted on as genuine to the prejudiced of others and ‘thereby committed an offence punishable under section 467 of the criminal code cap. C38 LFN, 2004.”
