Court Grants Police Request To Remand An Alleged Yahoo Boy For 30 Days | The Legend News 

Nigeria’s Inspector-General (IGP) An Igbosere Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Tinubu area, Lagos, today, permitted the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to remand an alleged internet fraud, popularly called Yahoo boy, Adelaja Oluwafemi for 30 days in his custody.

The Chief Magistrate B. A. Sonuga, who presided over the court ordered the remand of the suspect, Oluwafemi, following a motion Ex-parte motion filed and moved by Barrister Morufu Animashaun, a Legal Officer in the legal department of Force Criminal Investigation Department (ForceCID) annex, Alagbon-Ikoyi, Lagos 

The Ex-parte motion marked M/373/2024 and dated September 9, 2024, according to the police lawyer, Animashaun was brought pursuant to Sections 264(1), (2) (3), (4) & (6) & 267 of the  Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) of Lagos State 2021 (As Amended) and Section 4 and 10 of the Police Act 2020

Animashaun also informed the court that the application was premises on sections 6 (6), 35 (1) (C), (5) & (7) (a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).

He also told the court that the application was predicated on four grounds and attached with four exhibits, as well as, written address. Adding that all was filed in line with the rules of the honourable court.

Upon moving the application, the police lawyer urged the court for an order to remand of the suspect for a period of 30 days, in the custody of the Police at FCID Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos State, for further investigation of the case of alleged conspiracy, Advance Fee Fraud and stealing.

After listening to his submission, Chief Magistrate Sonuga granted the motion as prayed. And ordered that the Internet fraudster be remanded for period of 30 days and subsequently adjourned to October 15, 2024 for mention.
