Containerized Truck Falls On A Car At Ojuelegba Inward Stadium, Surulere | The Legend News

A Containerized Truck was involved in an accident and fell on a Toyota Corolla car on Sunday 24th,2023 at Ojuelegba inward Stadium, Surulere,in Lagos State.

According to an eye witness, three victims were rescued by LASEMA’s team alive with serious injuries. Fortunately there was no loss of lives at the incident scene due to the prompt response of emergency responders and very quick deployment of rescue equipment.

The silver coloured Toyota Corolla that was crushed, was severely damaged beyond repair during the accident.

In a statement issued by Permanent Secretary,LASEMA,Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke – Osanyintolu.

It states “LASEMA Agency’s Cobra Squad received a distress call from the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) Sunday 24th September at 2339 hours and immediately activated its emergency response plan.

“Upon arrival at the scene, it was observed that a containerized truck conveying a 40Feet container fell on a silver coloured Toyota Corolla with registration number JJJ811FV. The three occupants of the car (two adult males and one adult female) were trapped under the fallen containerized truck.

Further investigation at the incident scene revealed that the truck lost control while ascending Ojuelegba bridge inward Stadium.

LASEMA Agency’s response teams (Onipanu and Cappa) extricated the three trapped victims and rescued the three alive.

Agency’s paramedics and LASAMBUS immediately stabilised and administered first aid to the there rescued victims and subsequently took them to the Trauma Center.
At the scene of the accident, crowd control and traffic control measures were put in place as the operation was ongoing. The fallen container and the crashed car have been removed from the road.

However, he further said,this speedy response is an indicator of the capacity building and strengthened resilience to manage potentially fatal emergencies under the eagle watch of Lagos State Governor,Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. This incident was just one of three major events on the same day- Badagry, Ilupeju and Surulere. Our continuous prayer is that other stakeholders work closely with us to prevent, reduce and mitigate for even better outcomes.

The Agency’s LRT (Eagle and Cobra Squads), the Agency’s Paramedics, LASAMBUS, LASG Fire Service, NPF were all present at the scene.

PS LASEMA advised Trucks drivers/owners,that they should ensure  their trucks are roadworthy in order to forestall accident that endanger people’s lives. Truck drivers should also please obey all traffic rules and regulations.Operation Concluded at the scene,he said.
