Productions’ multiple award-winning blockbuster movie, “Collision Course”, has premiered on the streaming service, Netflix, to a global audience on Friday, September 2, 2022 following a successful premiere at African Film Festival (AFRIFF) in October 2021.
The movie “Collision Course,” which has echoes of the #endsars protests in Nigeria in October 2020 running through it, is a race against time in a palpable state of tension. The heart-pounding, star-studded tale is told in 24 hours and delves into the lives of a police officer, a budding artist, and some rogue elements in the society. The film is set against the backdrop of the enormous protests against police brutality that took place in Nigeria and the willingness of young people to speak out. The film’s producers, who also produced the award-winning movies “93 Days,” “Bling Lagosians,” and “Man of God,” have compared the movie’s narrative to that of a powder keg tethering on the brink of imminent combustion.
Ranking as Nigeria’s number #2 in Movies Today on Netflix within 48 hours of release, the Bolanle Austen-Peters productions’ third movie to feature on Netflix has been hailed as the most accomplished work of the renowned film producer, garnering praise across the country ever since its Nigerian premiere in October 2021, where it served as the closing film for the esteemed African Film Festival (AFRIFF). At that same festival, it did earn Kelechi Udegbe the Best Actor award in a lead role category while also picking two out of the four awards for which it was nominated at the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). And early this year, it emerged as West Africa’s Best Movie at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA).
The movie, described as the most pleasurable flick on Netflix by movie critics boasts of a strong cast of veteran and emerging Nollywood stars such as Etim Effiong, Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan (Bambam), Kelechi Udegbe, Ibejii, Kenneth Okolie, Bimbo Manuel, Ade Laoye, Norbert Young, Kalu Ikeagwu, Chioma Akpotha, among others.
