Nigerian President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, will on Tuesday, October 11th, confer the Nation’s prestigeous award of National Honours on 447 Nigerians and foreign progress-parner Nationals of Nigeria in various categories for the year 2022. The highly anticipated conferment event has been scheduled to hold at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

According to a press statement by Senator Goerge Akume, the Minister for Special Duties and Inter- Governmental Affairs, National Honours recipients were officially approved by the President for the conferment of the National Honours.
The deserving Nominees of Awards were chosen by National Honours Awards Committee, chaired by a former Supreme Court Judge Eminent traditional ruler,, His Royal Highness, Hon.Justice Sidi Bage, the Emir of Lafia. The Committee has noble members selected from the six geo-political zones of Nigeria.
Their nomination selection and procedure is supervised by Office of the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume.
Afterwards, the approved nomination list are send for widely publicized. This enables members of the public to the opportunity to scrutinize the character of the nominees and appraise their lifestyle to ensure they are qualify for this apex National Award. The categories of the award for confirmation includes: the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON, Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic, CFR, Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON, Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic, OFR and Member of the Order of the Niger, MON.
