A massive fire tore through a clothing Materials store on February 2nd, thursday early hour, drawing hundreds of Lagos State Emergency Agency team to 75 Martins Street by Balogun Junction, Lagos Island to battle the blaze for about seven hours, LASEMA officials said.
The fire broke out around 12:45am early hour of thursday at 75 Martins Street by Balogun Junction, in Lagos Island.
Agency’s response team have successfully brought the blaze under control and Nobody was injured by the fire.
Clothing materials worth millions of naira kept inside the stores was burnt beyond recognition at the scene.
In a statement signed and issued by the Permanent Secretary,LASEMA,Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu,it states “Upon arrival at the at the scene of the incident, some rooms in the third floor of a three storey building were observed to have been engulfed by fire.
He said “information gathered revealed that clothing materials are kept inside the stores. Fortunately no casualty was involved in the incident. The cause of the fire could not be ascertained.
“The fire has been successfully subdued by the combined efforts of the Agency’s response team alongside Lagos State fire service, LRU Fire unit, UBA fire unit, LNSC, CBD and Nigeria Police. Dampening has also been concluded to prevent it from reigniting again. Operation concluded and No further update at the scene of the incident,he added.
