…Your Body, Your Strength: Physical Limitations Don’t Dictate Success
Rufus Adeyeye, a 20-year-old amputee model, has taken the Nigerian fashion industry by storm with his captivating presence on the runway at the GTCO Fashion Weekend. Born without a limb, Rufus never let his physical difference hold him back from pursuing his dreams.
Rufus’s journey into modeling began unexpectedly after a chance encounter in Ikeja. What started as a spontaneous decision has now turned into a remarkable career, inspiring countless individuals with his confidence and charisma.
During an exclusive interview at the GTCO Fashion Weekend exhibition, Rufus shared his humble beginnings. “I didn’t initially plan on becoming a model,” he admitted. “However, I’ve learned that having goals is crucial to achieving success in any endeavor.”
When asked about his motivation, Rufus revealed, “Nothing specifically motivated me to go into modeling, but I believe setting goals is essential for everything you want to accomplish in life.” His words echo a powerful message: physical limitations are not barriers to success.
“I didn’t know anything about modeling, but my agency put me through, and seeing others in the industry inspired me.”
With over three years of experience, Rufus now fully embraces his career. Through the support and training of LED Model, his agency, he learned the ropes and found confidence in his unique style. “I have been working as a model for over three years, and I really enjoy it. For me, it’s been okay because I love what I do,” he said.
Despite being an amputee, Rufus doesn’t see limitations. “I don’t think I have any challenges. Even being an amputee model from birth, I can do everything with my hands,” he proudly stated “As a youth, I do a lot of chores myself.” Originally from Osun State, Rufus believes his experiences have shaped his resilience and positivity.
When asked about his advice for others, Rufus emphasized self-belief and ambition. “People shouldn’t underestimate or limit themselves. You can do more and anything. Showcase your talent and take a step forward.” His role as a model at GTCO Fashion Weekend was a contracted opportunity arranged by LED Model, and he hopes it’s just one of many more to come.
Rufus Adeyeye’s journey is an inspiring reminder that with determination, passion, and self-confidence, boundaries can be broken, and dreams can be realized.
