APRA Stands In Solidarity With Nigeria, Advocates For Constructive Dialogue Amidst Protests | The Legend News

In a show of solidarity, the African Public Relations Association (APRA) has voiced its unwavering support for the Nigerian government and citizens amidst ongoing protests against rising living costs.

APRA emphasized the importance of open and honest dialogue to swiftly address the underlying issues fueling these demonstrations.

The organization commended the Nigerian government for upholding citizens’ rights to protest and taking measures to prevent escalation.

In a statement released on  2nd of August, 2024, and signed by APRA President, Arik Karani, explained that protests and advocacy are essential to democracy, and encouraged constructive engagement to resolve the situation.

He further said that by standing together, Nigeria can navigate these challenges and emerge stronger.

However, APRA expressed deep concern over reports of fatalities, including both civilians and security personnel, as well as numerous injuries, looting, and destruction of property that have marred the protests. The association condemned the senseless loss of life and the vandalism of vital infrastructure, which are crucial for enhancing the quality of life for all Nigerians.

In light of these developments, APRA urges all parties involved both governmental and non-governmental to cease hostilities and work towards peaceful resolutions. The advocates for ongoing dialogue and genuine to facilitate prompt and effective to the grievances raised by the protesters.

APRA calls on the Nigerian government, including local authorities, to collaborate with all stakeholders to restore peace and stability in the nation, recognizing Nigeria’s pivotal role in Africa’s aspirations for progress and development.

APRA extends its condolences to the families mourning their loved ones lost in the turmoil and prays for the souls of the deceased. The Association also wishes a swift recovery to those injured and hopes for support for businesses affected by the unrest, it will  help them to rebound and contribute to revitalizing the Nigerian economy.
