The 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) was a night to remember, as the crème de la crème of the African film industry gathered at the Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos to celebrate exceptional talent and storytelling.
Veteran actress Iya Rainbow and the dashing Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) took home the coveted Industry Merit Awards, leaving the audience in awe.
Kehinde Bankole and Wale Ojo emerged as the Best Actress and Best Actor, respectively, for their outstanding performances in “Adire” and “Breath of Life”.
Hosted by the charming Ik Osakioduwa, the AMVCA’s 10th anniversary was a spectacular showcase of African excellence. Iya Rainbow, beaming with joy, dedicated her award to God, her family, and fans, while RMD humbly accepted his, acknowledging the privilege of working with talented actors and producers.
Bankole, a previous AMVCA winner, expressed her delight, while Ojo burst into a Yoruba gospel song, thanking God, family, and fans for his Best Actor award.
The audience was treated to a night of inspiration, entertainment, and celebration of African creativity.
Other winners included Antonio Ribeiro (Best Editing), Femi Adebayo (Best Indigenous Language Film – West Africa), and KC Obiajulu (Best Cinematography), among many others. The AMVCA continues to be a beacon of excellence, recognizing and rewarding the best in African filmmaking. Congratulations to all the winners.
