This year’s Valentine season which kick- off Tuesday with wide celebration of loved relationships, also touched the Nigerian Entertainment industry with fun fare

Renowned entertainment media executive, Femi Ajibode, aka Dmayor of Oldskool, and his associates set out the day to pay tributes to music legend, Chief (Dr.) Orlando Owoh, , who was born on February 14th. Ajibode held a wide commendable posthumous birthday for highlife music legend by hilighting Owo’s musical feats on his social media and and various platforms. The Demayor of old skool, a great collector of evergreen music was highly commended for his efforts .

Music fans who appreciates excellent works joined him to celebrate the Valentine birthday of Orlando Owoh. Writing on his Facebook page, Frank Ikoro,
a diehard fan of Owoh said, ” i love this man and his genre. He is we uite an accomplished musician. May his gentle soul continue to rest in peace. Amen”. ‘” A happy posthumous birthday to you Sir. You brought happiness to many souls” , said
Bobby Olanrewaju, in his tribute to Owoh, among many other fans, who shared their tributes for Owoh.

Chief Orlando Owoh was born on 14th February,1932, as Stephen Oladipupo Olaore Owomoyela in Osogbo, Nigeria to Owomoyela and Mrs. Christiana Morenike Owomoyela. His father hailed from Ifon – Ose Local Govt, Ondo State, while his mother was from Owo. He later became known to his fans as Chief Dr. Orlando Owoh.

According to Wikipedia, As a young man Owoh initially entered into the carpentry trade until 1958, when he was hired by Nigeria’s Kola Ogunmola Theatre Group to play drums and sing.

Owoh went on to form Dr. Orlando Owoh and his Omimah Band in 1960, and over a musical career of forty years became one of the leading proponents of highlife music. With bands such as the Omimah Band and later the Young Kenneries and the African Kenneries International, Owoh remained popular in Nigeria, even as tastes moved to the newer jùjú and fuji styles. He had over 45 albums to his credit.

Orlando Owoh died on 4 November 2008 and was laid to rest at his Agege residence in Lagos, Nigeria.
